Magisk Installation

If you have already MagiskInstalled, it is Strongly recommended. You can upgrade directly by using the Magisk app using its “Direct Install” method. This tutorial will only be used for initial installation.

Getting Started

Before you start:

  • This tutorial assumes that you are familiar with fastboot and adb.
  • Your device’s bootloader has to be unlocked
  • If you want to also install custom kernels then install it after Magisk

Install the most recent version Magiskapp. The app is used to collect information about your device. This should be displayed on the home screen.

Magisk

Pay particular attention to Ramdiskinfo. This information will determine if your device has ramdisk or not in the boot partition.

(Unfortunately, there are exceptions as some devices’ bootloader accepts ramdisk even if it shouldn’t. In this case, you will have to follow the instructions as if your device’s boot partition does include ramdisk. This is impossible to detect, so you will have to try it. It is not known if all Xiaomi devices have this feature, so most people can ignore this information.

If your device doesn’t have boot ramdisk you can read the MagiskBefore installing, please refer to the Recovery section. It is very important to read this section!

The file should be easy to extract from the official firmware packages, or your custom-ROM zip (if you use one). If you are still having trouble, go to XDA-Developers and look for resources, guides, discussions, or ask for help in your device’s forum.

  • Copy the boot/recovery picture to your device
  • Click the InstallClick the button Magiskcard
  • You must ensure that you patch the recovery image before you begin. “Recovery Mode”It should be checked at thegoneapp.com in most cases.
  • Select “Select and Patch a File”Select the stock boot/recovery photo in the method

  • Copy the patched image to your PC with ADB: adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched_[random_strings].img
  • Flash the recovery/boot image patched to your device. For most devices, reboot into fastboot mode and flash with command: fastboot flash boot /path/to/thegoneapp.com or fastboot flash recovery /path/to/thegoneapp.com if flashing a recovery image
  • Just reboot and you’re done!

Uninstallation

This is the quickest way to remove an installation MagiskYou can do this directly by going to the Magiskapp. App. MagiskFlash the APK to thegoneapp.com like any other flashable zip.

MagiskIn Recovery

If your device doesn’t have ramdisks in boot images MagiskThe recovery partition is taken over by the user. These devices will need to be reinstalled. Reboot for recoveryYou can do it whenever you like MagiskEnabled

Since MagiskYou can now hijack the recovery by using a special mechanism to enter recovery mode. To boot into recovery on each model, there is a unique key combination for each device. Before you install

Installation Magisk

There are some limitations to unlocking the bootloader of modern Samsung devices. VaultKeeper, a new service that will allow the bootloader to reject unofficial partitions under certain circumstances, has been introduced.

Allow bootloader unlocking in

  • Developer options → OEM unlockingTo go into download mode, power off your device. Then, press the Download Mode key combination for your device.
  • To unlock the bootloader, long press volume up.

You can’t upgrade your Android OS using OTA after you have rooted the Samsung device. To upgrade your device’s OS, you have to manually download the new firmware zip file and go through the same AP patching process written in the previous section.

There is one major difference in the Odin flashing steps: We don’t use the CSC or HOME_CSC tars. This is because we are upgrading, not installing the original install..Important Notes

Never, ever

  • You can restore the boot or recovery partitions to their original state. This can cause your device to become bricked. To recover, you will need to perform an Odin restore with data wiping.You can upgrade your device by installing a new firmware
  • NeverUse the stock AP tar file directly for the reasons listed above. AlwaysPatch AP in the Use the app instead.MagiskFlashing only AP is not a good idea. Odin might shrink the size of your /data files. When upgrading, flash AP + Bl + CP + HOME_CSC
  • Custom Recovery

This method of installation is no longer recommended and can be maintained with minimal effort. YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED!

It is very difficult to accurately detect the device’s information in custom recovery environments. Installing is therefore a must.

It is not recommended to use custom recoveries on modern devices. Patch Image is the best option if you have any problems. It works 100% of the times.MagiskGet the

  • APKMagiskRename the .apk file extension to .zip, for example: thegoneapp.com → thegoneapp.com. To rename a file, use an Android file manager or TWRP’s file manager.
  • The zip can be flashed just like any other flashable zip.
  • Reboot the computer and verify that it is working.
  • App is now installed. If it isn’t installed automatically, manually install the APK.MagiskWarning: The thegoneapp.com module file may be saved in the cache partition. DO NOT MANUALLY DISABLE THE CACHE PARTITION.
