Fun Facts About Goats

Goats belong to the same group of mammals, ungulates, that includes both livestock such as cows and sheep and super-smart species like dolphins and elephants. Research shows that goats are as smart as many primates when it comes to solving food reward puzzles.

There are three main types: fiber, milk and meat. Many goats are happy to live with people, both as livestock or as pets. This is even to the point where some say, “Goats are the new dogs.” However, they are also remarkably self-sufficient when left to their own devices.

The unusually rectangular eyes of goats are a unique feature. This allows goats to bend their head to graze and keep their eyes on the horizon for danger. While goats can’t “do accents” the way human comics can, goats from different parts of the world can and do develop accents specific to their home range and herd.

Congratulations on your new pet goat. We hope these lists of goat name ideas will inspire and provide you with creative ideas.
