How To Fix A Lace Front Wig

Let’s be honest: accidents happen. Whether you are a bit too rough removing your wig at the end of the night, or whether you don’t store it properly, tears and tangles can happen in any wig – especially lace front. There is no need for panic. Although it may seem daunting, fixing a lacefront is actually quite simple and can be done in your own home.

How To Repair Your Lace Front

Step 1

  • Spritz the hair using a little water and comb it through.

Step 2

  • Turn your lace front wig inside out so that the lace is facing you and you can clearly see the area you need to repair.

Step 3

  • Clean the area that’s been ripped with acetone.

Step 4

  • Using T-pins, pin the edges of the tear together so that the ripped edges are touching.

Fixing A Lace Front Wig With Adhesives

Choice 1: Fix with tape

Step 6

  • Use lace front tape to cover the torn area. To ensure that the tape is securely attached to the lace with your fingers, press down gently. Then carefully trim the excess.

Step 7

  • Cover the tape using a sheet of 3M Transpore tape of the identical size (cut it if you need to) to reinforce the region and keep it from sticking.

Choice 2: Fix by Stitching with Thread

Step 6

  • Locate a sturdy thread that matches the color of your lace. Clear thread is also possible. Threading the needle and tying the ends together can strengthen the thread for many women.

Step 7

  • Begin stitching with a straightforward overcast stitch. Make sure your stitches are close to the tear so your brush and comb don’t get caught on it. As soon as you’ve stitched the complete tear, double knot the ribbon and cut off the excess.

It is much easier to fix a lace front wig once you have decided on the method. It is best to not fix the wig at all. If you are a regular wig-wearer, care is important. Make sure your wig is properly stored and washed regularly.
