Demon girls, vampire girls, succubae girls. Girls embedded with satanic spirit.
Girls with split personalities & genetic supernatural enhancements. Girls who are crazy, or evil… A whole lotta devilish girls.
They’ve been a staple of anime since the beginning. And these demons may be as old as time, or still so young that they’re attending High School. It doesn’t matter.
If they’re demonic in some way, I’m game to rank ‘em. Let’s get to it!
22. Mina ‘Pinky’ Ashido

Anime: My Hero Academia
Her jet-black sclera, yellow irises, lilac skin, and purple hair help Mina to really stand out.
This is due to her Quirk (power), which allows her the ability to expel corrosive acid. Mina is quirky (bdum tss), and her eccentric design reflects that.
Due to her exuberant personality, Mina is a popular choice among cult fans.
21. Nelliel Tu Oderschvank

Anime: Bleach
The first time we meet Nel, she’s a childlike arrancar wearing a chibi hollow-headpiece and red face paint.
Her true form is a tall, dark-eyed woman with a more demonic hollow helmet and narrow eyes.
After her introduction as the Tres Espada, she quickly became a fan favorite.
Despite her transformation Nel retained her charming, childlike personality while adding a sophisticated, logical dimension.
20. Rena Ryuuguu

Anime: Higurashi: When They Cry
Kind, caring Rena loves cute things.
Her catchphrase (kaaii), is reserved for those times when she sees something so adorable that she feels like she’s losing herself. What if demons can do that?
She’s susceptible to teasing and mocking, always quick to self-doubt. It’s not unusual for any type of evil.
However, she enjoys playing with her friends and board games in the summer. She is also a fan of meat cleavers and murdering.
19. Scanty Demon

Anime: Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
The elder sister of the similarly seductive Kneesocks Demon, Scanty is a real stickler for rules and manners.
Nothing makes her happier that being a polite masochist to torture.
Her underwear can be transformed into Double Gold Lacytanga’s akimbo handguns. Her oddly sensual design and overt demonic presence (it’s even her last name) make Scanty stand out.
We must apologize to Scanty’s twin sister.
Studio Trigger animated Scanty with beautiful animation – you will feel guilty for not feeling the same way about the other characters. Beautiful.
18. Q

Anime: C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control
C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control is an isekai, if instead of being transformed to another world, you were simply given a huge bank account and therefore access to that world.
It’s Capitalism: The Anime. And it’s god-damn beautiful.
Characters Fight Assets in Financial District. Assets, demon-like creatures with various moe designs, are a newcomer.
Q is my favourite Asset because of her Kuudere personality and design. She can also cannibalize space and time within a certain area, but at a high cost.
Didn’t think you’d see MONEY as a character on this list, did you?
17. Rias Gremory

Anime: Highschool DxD
Everybody’s Harem Ecchi Canon Waifu.
She’s the descendant of a long line of sublime, purebred devils. A genius, an oppai queen… Oh!
And the inheritor of the Power of Destruction, a devastating energy release that can obliterate matter of both incorporeal and corporeal substance. So that’s something.
Rias, possibly the most beloved harem anime of all time, has been a fan favorite in the anime world for more than a ten years.
16. Clare

Anime: Claymore
Here’s an overlooked series from nearly two decades ago.
This Berserk-inspired tale of demonic battle features strong characters and great production quality.
Clare, a Claymore, is on a path to revenge. They hunt Yoma, monstrous demonic demons, and have namesake swords.
Clare is a Claymore Organization member who goes half-Yoma in order to combat their enemies’ strength. Clare however, stays quarter-Yoma in order to preserve her humanity and to forge her own strength through determination.
Clare is a delicate woman with pale blonde hair and a delicate physique. She also has a demonic gaze and a piercing demonic look.
Such an iconic forgotten gem. The times are changing.
15. Lucy

Anime: Elfen Lied
The first legendary five minutes of Elfen Lied follow Lucy emerging from confinement to telekinetically dissemble, brutalize, and torture the staff that kept her prisoner… before diving into the ocean.
Now suffering from amnesia, and a personality akin to that of a child’s, she finds shelter with two altruist college students.
As she learns to live in a community, they take care of her. Little do any of them realize what they’ve accepted into their home. Nor what it’s capable of.
Lucy is a God-tier runner for bloodbaths. Elfen Lied’s reputation was built on the horrific, sadistic actions Lucy and those who hunted her.
She acts cute and moe all the while!
She gets lots of ticks on my Demonic Checklist, it’s no surprise.
14. Seras

Anime: Hellsing
Everyone’s favorite policewoman vampire.
When Alucard shoots her attacker through the chest, Seras is presented. Her chest.
If it weren’t for Alucard, an immortal vampire who offered her a place to be his new minion, this would have been enough to kill her.
She initially resents her new form but she slowly accepts it. She eventually becomes more than Alucard and her vampirism.
Hellsing is Abridged is a great reimagining this cult horror classic. Studio Madhouse has once again revived an old show to new heights.
I wasn’t a fan of Seras when I watched the first adaptation, but Ultimate firmly secured her as an A+ demonic powerhouse.
13. Ebisu

Anime: Dorohedoro
Sporting a straight-from-Hot-Topic skull mask and wielding two hand-scythes, Ebisu is a small force to be reckoned with.
One of the first times we see the mysterious, androgynous mage is when she has her fingers & face bitten off.
It’s not a very attractive look.
Ebisu became a frequent performer of macabre comedic relief after her scarring accident.
That doesn’t stop her from being badass though. I won’t spoil what her smoke (power) is, but trust me when I say it’s pretty monstrous.
Dorohedoro is a bizarre, disturbing journey through magical squalor. Even the villains are lovable and brilliantly written. Ebisu, however, is by far the most memorable character.
12. Miki Kuroda

Anime: Devilman: Crybaby
Miko is a running track star alongside her close friend Miki Makimura.
Makimura began to outrun her. Soon she was being outperformed in every way by the kind yet competent girl, and given the name ‘Miko’.
Miki now has no name and is determined not to lose touch with her friend.
However, she does eventually achieve her goals, but it comes at a horrible, tragic cost.
This anime is one of the best out there if you’re looking for pure, hedonistic evil depicted on the screen. It is constantly shocking.
11. Sunako Kirishiki

Anime: Shiki
WHERE ARE HER EYES!? DEAR GOD, WHERE –
Uh. Sunako Kirishiki looks thirteen but is so old she can’t recall; one-hundred years old, at least.
She’s a soft spoken, delicate woman who needs to stay out of the sun due to her genetic disorder.
She loves literature and Seishin Muroi in particular. She spends much of her time praying for peace and prosperity.
Sunako is a great example of how scary looks can disguise a timid spirit.
Studio Daume’s anime take on Stephen King’s Salem Lot is a disturbing, eerie, powerful take on mass hysteria, conflict, and prejudice.
Shiki doesn’t hold any punches all the way to the last episode. It is consistently frightening and emotional jarring. We need more anime like Shiki.
10. Ai Enma

Anime: Hell Girl
True to her namesake, Enma sports a suitably Hellish appearance with long black hair and dark red piercing eyes.
You see, there’s a rumor going around. If you go on a certain website at midnight, and type a person’s name down, they’ll be sent to Hell.
The ferryman, Ai Enma, won’t judge you. She won’t even judge the victim. She’ll just kindly kill and take them away.
You will go to Hell after you die if the website is used.
Enma, a complex, tragic deity, has a fascinating backstory. Her abilities include teleportation and illusions. She’s also cute as Hell.
9. Zero Two

Anime: Darling in the FranXX
Studio Trigger’s Neo Gurren Lagann / Neon Genesis Evangelion hybrid finished airing to mixed reception.
Some people were turned off by the twists, turns and twirls that later episodes featured. But I’ve gotta say, I enjoyed the ride a lot.
Zero Two is, however, hated by her coworkers as well as fellow students.
She possesses little red horns and due to her genetics being shared by the enemy, she’s the only one of the group to have a single digit codename. She was given the nickname ‘Teammate Killer’ due to her low mech-pilot compatibility rate.
The ‘myth’ states that riding with her three times will most certainly lead to your death. I’m not disagreeing.
02 is a difficult one to deal with. She’s arrogant, egotistic, assertive, and very proud.
8. Rem

Anime: Re: Zero
Rem is the blue haired other half of the twin demon maids, Rem and Ram, and the better of the two. Fight me.
She’s polite, well-mannered, intelligent, and loyal.
You can say that she is perfect.
Well, Rem doesn’t think so.
Rem isn’t a huge fan of herself. Subaru hears her talk about the inferiority she feels due to her respected sister. The two of them form a strong bond.
In We saw lots of Rem in season 1. We saw her diplomatic side, cute side, vulnerable side and even the evil side.
And I can’t wait to see any other sides she might have in season two!
7. Nezuko Kamado
Anime: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Kimetsu no Yaiba begins with Tanjirou Kamado returning home to find his family slaughtered. To find his sister, Nezuko kamado was transformed into a demonic entity.
Nezuko took the anime community by storm in 2019 with Ufotable’s gorgeous adaptation.
In Nezuko is a cute little sister who needs to be protected but not a damsel.
She’s still my favourite.
6. Shiro

Anime: Deadman Wonderland
An unusual, childlike albino girl wearing a skinsuit and oversized mittens.
Shiro is adorable.
She’s also the genocidal Wretched Egg; a multi-personality devoid of remorse, hellbent on destruction and termination.
She’s spent her life inside a prison, mostly alone, but with reasonable come-and-go privileges.
Ultimately she’s an enigma, alright. Decoding her is an exciting, but horrifying rollercoaster packed with gore.
5. Slan

Anime: Berserk
The only female member of the exclusive, illusive Godhand.
Slan, whore princess of the Uterine sea, is very attractive.
However, she is a very repulsive creature.
She can take many forms – a creature amassed out of guts and intestines, a giantess with large onyx feathered wings – and for sure she’s sadistic with a capital ‘S’.
Slan is both a legendary demon in attitude and action. This is the most terrifying of all the demons on this list.
4. Touka Kirishima

Anime: Tokyo Ghoul
Touka is a ghoul, a vampire-like demon reliant on humans for sustenance.
Referred to often as ‘Rabbit’ for her stylized mask and tendency to bounce around hunting at night, she spends her days at school or as a waitress. Not too demonic but eh, she’s got a life.
Touka assists Kaneki with his transition to a ghoul life. Even though the job is not easy, it’s worth it.
She doesn’t like getting close to people, with very few exceptions. She opens up throughout the series and becomes one of the most popular female Tokyo Ghoul characters.
3. Shiki Ryougi

Anime: The Garden of Sinners
Following a two-year coma, Shiki has eyes capable of perceiving death.
She can track the cause of an object or person’s death, therefore diverting it. Two personalities reside in her mind: Shiki, a gentle female one, and Shiki (a brutally cold male).
She’s an incredibly complex character, always at the edge of a killing spree yet restrained by her own personal philosophy.
Studio Ufotable brought her design to life in a simple but beautiful way.
Every time she overcomes an obstacle, a different version of her theme song plays. I find myself falling in love with the intricate collection of pixels in front of me.
2. Suruga Kanbaru

Anime: Bakemonogatari
Like most of the characters of the Monogatari franchise, Kanbaru is dealing with quite a few inner demons.
Her inferiority complex and envy, compounded with a ‘Monkey’s Paw’ capable of granting wishes at a cost, causes her to transform and lash out.
Kanbaru overcomes her insecurities through classic Nisioisin dialogues.
Lesbian, fujoshi, basketball-star, masochistic lolicon. Surugu Kanbaru has many talents, but there are also flaws. And that is why she’s amazing.
1. Celty Sturluson

Anime: Durarara!!
Celty Sturluson Anime: Durarara!
The Headless Rider has swapped her horse for a motorbike, and her armor to spandex. It’s amazing.
She can transform shadows into objects, which gives her great versatility when it comes to combat.
If you watch enough you’ll see her design matches her personality; subdued, mysterious, yet energetic and fun.
By far the cutest demonic girl out there, proving that you don’t even need to have a head (let alone a face) to be primetime waifu material.
