The real question is, should you take your only working car key apart, and try and put it into a new case? Do you think it is possible to save money rather than buying a brand new key? Or will you be left without a key to start your car?

Some keys are easy to fix. Some keys can be fixed easily. Others need to be handled calmly by a brain surgeon armed with all the necessary instructions. You may want to make things better but what if they get worse?
We believe you should be able. It’s hardly your fault that manufacturers have messed up with cheap design. But it depends on the make of car you have.

Where can I get my car key blade trimmed?
This can be difficult. Amazon reviews show that many key cases are not cut by anyone. Get in touch with a reliable Auto-Locksmith. If they have a shop like we have, expect to pay at least £10 to get it cut. This covers wear and tear on the machine, cutter blade, and a bit of electricity to keep the lights lit.
Or
Swap the key blade over.
It can be easy or difficult. It all depends on whether the old blade can fit in the new case.
The Vauxhall flip keys that we sell on Amazon can be swapped with very little modification to the original blade. The Hyundai/Kia and VW/Seat/Skoda cases require more work. However, the old blade can be reused in the new case by using a needle file.
For some this is a really simple job because you’re used to using small hand tools. However, if you’re not happy about this, then it’s completely understandable, and you are better off getting the blade cut.
