Last year we completed my daughter Emma’s teen bedroom makeover. We made her feel more mature with spaces for studying and getting ready for the day. It also included a place for just hanging out. We were thrilled with the results of her room remodel.

Children and teens love taking pictures with their phones. I mean honestly don’t we all love to document our lives? I know that I do. And what’s more fun than displaying the pictures we take. I can remember when I was a teenager covering my closet doors with photographs of my friends and myself. Do you remember doing that?

The Post
When we finished her room makeover, we added a grid-style gallery wall to her dresser. She loves it. But it’s not super easy to change out those photos since they are in frames. Plus…there are only 9 frames. This is not nearly enough! You probably know how many photos your girls take if you have them.

We needed to find a solution that would allow her to add more photos of family and friends. I was just about to complete her room remodel and I needed to figure out a way that would minimize the damage to her freshly painted walls. We could then tape images to one or two pictures. posterBoards can be attached to the wall by simply attaching them to the wall, rather than individually taped photos.

Emma was busy selecting the photos she wanted printed, so I went to the shop to get some supplies. Emma created a new album with the photos on her phone and then uploaded it to Shutterfly. Shutterfly has often a promotion, so the project was quite affordable. You can pick up your prints the very same day at Walgreens or Target, and they also make it easy to have them delivered directly to you. You can have them sent directly to you.

Supplies required
- Heavyweight posterboard
- Tape with double-sided adhesive
- Command strips
- Paper trimmer
- Photos

All the photos were printed in a standard 4×6 and we had a mix of vertical and horizontal pictures. We also trimmed some of the prints to a 4×4 size. Emma laid the prints out on the poster boardThey were able to combine the various sizes into one size that would fit the bill. board. We used a heavyweight poster boardSo that it could hold all the photos after they were taped. We used command strips to hang all the pictures after they were taped on. posterYou can attach boards directly to the wall.

I’m going, to be honest, I’d love my kid’s rooms to look just like a Pottery Barn Teen catalog. For this reason, I had to let go of my visions. DIY poster board photo collageBecause it is important This was Emma’s vision for her room!
