Giving and taking away
Job had the right perspective…whatever we receive from God, He can take away, so praise Him regardless of what happens in life. Job “said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job1:21. The Lord gives more than He takes away, but whatever happens, we can say with confidence, “blessed by the name of the Lord.”
Put your faith in God
Job had such great faith that he could honestly say, even “Though he slay me, I will hope in him” (Job13:15 He knew that if his body died, he would be reunited with the Lord, and that the Lord would raise it to his spirit. Death was not the end. JobIt is not for us. For those who believe in Christ, it is just the beginning.
Upright and Blameless
I can’t say this about myself or few people that I know, but the Word of God declared that “There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil” (Job1:1 How many people are you able to call innocent and fear God? We can only think of a handful, but we all know that Christ is the source of our righteousness. Job’s righteousness ultimately came from God’s Spirit.
Job’s Test
God holds Satan in check. He allows him some freedom, but Satan’s freedom is designed to bring about much good, as God uses evil for God (Genesis 50:20; John 3:16). Even though God is not the author of evil, much good comes from evil, so it’s not surprising that God allowed Satan to test Job, and so “the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord” (Job1:12. TheHe may also test us.
Reproving is the best way to be blessed
JobHe understood that he was being disciplined, and that it was for his benefit. Job wisely said, “blessed is the one whom God reproves, therefore despise not the discipline of the Almighty. For he wounds, but he binds up, he shatters, but his hands heal” (Job5:17-18 He may wound us, but He will also heal us…He may cut us, but He cuts us in order to heal us.
God Knows…
The BookOf JobIt is not an easy book to comprehend. JobWe have never received an answer from God. He didn’t understand why he suffered so much loss of life (his family) and health, and even his friends, so we may not understand what’s happening to us or why, but don’t ask “Why,” but rather “What,” as in “What are you trying to teach me Lord.” The important thing is, God knows what He’s doing, so we must trust Him in all this.
